Comfort Foodies is where Southern Soul meets the Caribbean!

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in NYC, Elsa, an afro-latina, learned the love of cooking from her mom.

Watching how her family and friends would gather around socializing, while relishing her delicious home cooking, planted the seed to open a family restaurant featuring Caribbean cuisine. She pursued a career in Finance, but her passion of cooking for others eventually won out.

After Elsa moved to Houston and met Jeff, a native Houstonian and fantastic cook himself, she discovered a passion for Soul Food and learned to lovingly prepare many Southern dishes. Jeff grew up eating his grandmother’s delicious home cooked Sunday meals after church, so his love of all things Soul Food runs deep. His fried chicken recipe is like no other! Along with his culinary aptitude, Jeff is an entrepreneur at heart with a keen sense for business.

Jeff and Elsa are true foodies at heart and in 2019 realized that it was time to introduce a distinct type of cuisine to the Houston area. They rolled out their Comfort Foodies food truck in 2020, just prior to the pandemic. Despite the adversities, the success of the food truck and their Catering business, kept customers calling for more and provided the impetus to open their first brick and mortar establishment..

Jeff and Elsa have blended both flavors and cultures to create a new and exciting culinary experience. Their goal is to create an environment that invites your family and friends to enjoy a home cooked, flavorful meal either inside the restaurant or on their patio.

Their love of cooking for others is matched only by their desire to be contributing members of the community and look forward to working with local non-profit organizations.

Comfort Foodies thoughtfully prepares and beautifully presents catering buffets for all types of special events including brunches, corporate events, baby or wedding showers, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, holiday parties, or any social occasion with family and friends.
